Hair Extension Don'ts | What You Need To Know

Have you ever dreamt of achieving luscious, voluminous locks that cascade down your shoulders in a mesmerizing display of beauty? Hair extensions can turn this dream into reality, instantly enhancing your natural hair and boosting your confidence.

However, like most things, proper care and maintenance are essential to preserve your natural hair health and the longevity of the hair extensions.

Hair extensions are an amazing thing to have! Here are some hair extension don'ts to DEFINITELY avoid while wearing hair extensions!

DIY Application: Avoid applying extensions yourself, especially if you lack experience. Improper application can lead to hair damage and discomfort. Although there are clip-in hair extensions / halo hair extensions that are made for DIY application, a youtube tutorial is usually all that is needed.

Neglecting Hygiene: Keep your scalp and extensions clean to prevent oil buildup and maintain a healthy environment for your natural hair to grow. If your hair is dirty.... WASH IT! Dirty scalp leads to unhealthy hair, clogged pore = unable for your hair to grow, and irritated dry, flaking scalp.

Skipping Maintenance: Neglecting regular maintenance can result in tangling, matting, and an overall unkempt appearance.

Excessive Heat Styling: While some may believe extensions can handle more heat than your natural hair, that is not the case. If you jvae human hair extensions you will want to treat them as if they were your own hair. Excessive heat can damage them, leading to dryness and breakage. Use heat styling tools sparingly. Opt in for a good heat protectant. We use the 6 in 1 styling cream from Virtue Labs which is linked below!

Sleeping with Wet Hair: Sleeping with wet OR damp hair extensions can cause tangling and matting. Allow your extensions to dry thoroughly before bed. A low loose braid is great hairstyle to wear at night time to prevent any tangling and matting!

Using Incorrect Products: Use hair care products recommended by your stylist to maintain the integrity of your extensions. Harsh or incompatible products can damage the hair. At Studio She EVERYTHING we use are the Virtue Labs Products!

Ignoring Discomfort: Life happens, and corner could cop or something doesn't feel right or still uncomfortable after the first few days. If your extensions cause discomfort or pain, consult your stylist immediately. Wearing uncomfortable extensions can lead to hair and scalp damage.
